Materials and Design
The bow is made mostly out of CNC billet aluminum, so you know it’s durable and sturdy. The riser is made from a lightweight aluminum alloy and features a weighted dampening system to reduce vibration. The bow’s parallel split limb design will take out all the shock so you won’t feel a thing as you shoot. This model features an axle to axle length of thirty inches which is excellent. Bare, the bow weighs in at a little over 4lbs. The bow’s dual cam system makes shooting the bow a breeze, while the solid back wall offers a consistent, good reference point for better accuracy. The cable stop, which also works to reduce vibration, and cable guide, are made out of carbon fiber, so they’re very sturdy but lightweight. The cable guide works to prevent the cables from blocking each other as you take a shot.
Flexibility
The draw weight ranges from 25 to 70lbs, and the draw length from 19″ to 30″, which means the bow can be adjusted to work for young teens and adults. The hex key tool is used to adjust the draw weight and length, which is pretty simple to do. The peep sight and D-loop must be adjusted to the specific shooter in order to get consistent and ideal results while shooting. The mechanical release aid clips onto the D-loop on the string. While you can try finger shooting the bow, it’s not really recommended for compound bows because your finger can end up torquing the string, affecting the arrow’s flight. Every compound bow must be adjusted to the owner, so never trust pre-installed D-loops and peep sights.
Performance
At speed of 320FPS IBO, the Apollo Tactical is a fast bow. The peep sight works as a rear sight and must be lined up with the forward sight for accurate aim. However, if you want to get the groupings tighter at fifty yards and beyond, you’ll need to upgrade to smaller pins for the drop and sight. The bow features a total of six vibration dampeners in addition to string silencers and the string stop for a consistent and reliable performance: the stabilizer with dampening works to reduce vibration while shooting; the bow’s string comes waxed with two string dampeners installed, along with a peep sight and D-loop. The D-loop works as a release aid, pulling back the string. Two additional dampeners can be found in the bow’s limbs and work to reduce any additional vibration
Hunting Features
This bow is unbelievably quiet. With all of the included dampeners included, it’s virtually silent as you draw and release, which is great to avoid scaring your prey away. Also, because of the included five pin fiber optic sight with UV light, this bow can be used in poor lighting or low lighting situations, making the bow a good choice for hunting.
The Package
Along with the bow comes a good quality full capture arrow rest that feels very sturdy.
The hard bow flight case is a nice extra that makes it easy to safely transport the Apollo, and it’s one of the only double-walled cases sold in a compound bow package at the moment. Using the case will not only allow you to safely transport your bow, but it also works to lock out moisture, which can cause warping.
The included detachable quiver will remain safely out of your way while shooting and can hold up to six arrows.
This package also comes with a bow stand which will come in handy. So instead of leaning the bow against something or putting it on a table, you can simply secure it in its stand.
The wrist sling will also come in handy and it attaches the bow to your wrist, allowing you to hold it in a relaxed grip. The proper shooting form is important for accuracy. After releasing the arrow, most people tend to tighten their grip in order to avoid dropping the bow. But when this is done the muscles in the wrist and hand can end up torquing the entire bow which will affect the arrow’s flight. Using the wrist sling will allow you to loosen your grip after a shot, working to prevent torquing the bow or dropping it.
The included wax can be used for the cables and string. Waxing both of these areas regularly is crucial because it prevents unnecessary wear, so you won’t have to switch them out sooner.
Aside from the accessories we’ve gone over, you’ll also get a spare waxed string, D-loop, and an extra latch case.
The bow comes with a one year warranty on all accessories, and a lifetime warranty on the main riser.
